Based on the location that my wife landed a job in and my need to commute into DC daily, what would be the best/quickest way to get to DC from Reston Town Center? I plan on using the Reston Center Transit Station. Is it quicker to take an express bus from there into the metro or would a bus from there to a VRE station be better? (does that even exist) Thanks.

Fairfax Connector 505 bus -> West Falls Church Metro -> Orange Line train... I don't know of any buses to the VRE station. The bus makes one or two stops at the Wiehle Ave park and rides, then takes the airport section of the toll road all the way in.

How long would it take me to go from the transit station, bus into the metro and from there to L'Enfant plaza? I am looking for total transit time I will be facing soon. Thanks.

Metro's trip planner says just over an hour, depending on the bus. You can just punch in Reston Town Center as the starting point, the site recognizes it.

Here is a very handy tool.
Metro - Rider Tools - Trip Planner

It indicates 58 minutes via Fairfax Connector 505 and Orangle Line Train at a cost of $3.10 with a SmarTrip card.

Here is the 505 schedule
505 Reston Town Center

Thank you guys very much. I am about to lease an apartment in the town center but I will be commuting daily to DC. The ONLY reason I am doing it is because the area looks nice and its close to my wifes job. An hour with someone else driving each way isnt so bad. I do it now where I live. Thanks everyone.

Anonymous and I both live immediately to the east of Reston Town Center. Welcome to the neighborhood.

Can you guys fill me in on whats good. I am looking at a condo in reston town center but the owner wont commit to a lease b/c I want to move in late November. Is there condo/apartments near the transit station with garage parking and controlled access I should look at?

What is your price range?
How many bedrooms do you want?

Near the transit station in Town Center with controlled accesss and garage parking you will mostly be looking at condos which are for rent.

Not knowing your price range here are a few options.

I don't have either in my community, and it doesn't bother me in the least.
