currently living in tysons corner in a nice one bedroom for $1,500 (expensive already). it's time for me to renew my lease and my landlord wants $1,575

with the rental market declining, i tried negotiating with my landlord but he didn't budget at all

so i'm looking for a 1brd around this area, but i am willing to move further away, maybe into oakton or arlington. i work in tysons corner, but i'll be going to school at night at the fairfax mason campus.

where should i live? thx.

My first thought would be for you to look to live somewhere on or near Gallows Road near the Dunn Loring Metro Station. Here you could be a short drive from either Tyson's Corner or GMU, or you could take the train to school (I'm sure the college has a bus that runs to the station).

Some landlords care more about money than quality tenants. To me its sad, but then again I am not a landlord but as a renter myself I feel like they should be more concerned about keeping a good tenant than raising the rent $75 a month. Just my 2 cents, good luck!

You won't find anything under $1500 in the Tyson's Area but you can try Vienna or maybe further towards Fairfax.

I've seen ads for apartments in or near Ballston for under $1400. If you're a little further from the metro station it helps to lower the price.

Why is Tyson's so expensive? No offense, but while it has the region's best shopping and is a dense employment concentration it looks like an armpit of a place to live.
