Here's a January surprise: Nissan Pavilion was just re-named to Jiffy Lube Live. I kid you not! See, this is why the Redskins shouldn't change their name. Sometimes a name change can end up being a lot worse than the original.

I can't decide which part of this name is more awkward for a concert venue... the "Jiffy", or the "Lube"?

Do we really want to see Coldplay in a Jiffy?

And I'm not sure I want to know what "getting lubed at the Jiffy" will be slang for....

Will the snack stand sell Jiffy pop?

I suppose it could be worse... our recently disgraced Wizards star could have used his millions to buy the rights to the name. Then you could go to Manassas to see a gun show at the Gilbert Arenas.

I saw that last night and told my husband. He didn't believe me!! Seriously, what an awful name and to think of how much it will cost to change all the signs, etc.

What about Dave Matthews Band in a Lube, or a Jiffy? Hmm.....this is going to be badddd. It reminds me of Jiffy Pop....loved that stuff as a kid. Dad used to bring it on camping trips. You know old-style camping with a backpack and small stove. The only kind in the NW.

LOL, and I thought it was bad when we had PSINet Stadium. I can hardly wait for the Velvet Lounge to be renamed the Velveeta Lounge.

Seriously, can you picture the commercials for this place? They'll be weirder than the Eastern Motors ads.

With a name like that, they might as well go for it and make it as cheesy as possible.

The bands will be announced by a deep voice with the echo machine turned on at full blast:
"This Week--Motorhead at Jiffy Lube Live!"
And the background jingle will be:
"Jiffy Lube Live... Jiffy Lube Live... Let's take a drive to Jiffy Lube Live..."

Now if we can just get "Jiffy Lube" to widen Wellington Road in front of their venue...

So if you don't have tickets, do you try to slip in?

Tonight's show: Tool, followed by Squeeze.

Ok, that's enough, I'll stop!
