We are finishing building our house and found out the builders no longer put railings on houses after the code was changed a few months back. Now we are debating putting one up ourselves (which we'll probably end up doing) or just leaving it without a railing.
We have the 2 steps up to the landing at the door and 2 columns. Other houses have the rail between the columns and the house and then the stair rail to the ground. I thought about a smaller glider swing on the landing or maybe some nice urns with plants/flowers to dress it up.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Now I'll be looking at everyone's house for ideas as I drive by..

If you could post a photo of the area you are describing it would help start the ideas rolling. It's hard to make suggestions without seeing the area.
