Anyone hear any good local bands? Also, what clubs would you recommend for someone visiting the area who wants to hear local music?

Nothing in particular--I just thought this would be a good general topic. I thought it might be helpful to all the young people moving here. When I was young and moving around to new cities all the time, I know that when I went to a club and heard some good local music, that would me feel at home.

So, to answer your question: all kinds of music.

Places I've taken out of town guests: Blues Alley, Blair Mansion, 219, La Fourchete, The Wharf, Bankok Blues, Ireland's Four Provinces, Opus 88 Lounge, although I'll admit that these places are mostly boomer hangouts.

I'm still a fan of the State Theater in Falls Church. I also hear the band "Go-Go Gadjet" is playing next weekend at Ned Devine's in Herndon. I've never heard them, but friends of mine want to go see them.

if you like fun party rock then Junk Food is a good band! They play out in Centreville and Fairfax quite often.

There are lots of venues catering towards different styles, Are you looking for a specific kind of music or is this just another attempt to increase your post count?

LOL, no need to increase my post count--it's already in the gazillions. Besides, who cares about post count? That and $1.50 will buy me a cup of coffee.

Just trying to start some interesting conversations. I get bored reading the same old ten topics over and over. Plus, I enjoy hearing you guys talk about bands, even though I don't really go to clubs anymore.

The other day I posted this a press release that included this statement: "enjoy a show featuring The Cheaters, Hotspur, Rome In A Day and Crash, Boom, Bang." So now I'm wondering... are these good bands? Would you go out of your way to see them?
