C'mon Guamanians, you're our biggest movie buff. You know you want to play! I'll bet you've got a dozen clever answers for each of those movies. Tell us how Shrek reminds you of northern Virginia. Or Caddy Shack--I just know you've got some witty connections between Caddyshack and Nova.

Gone with the Wind? It's still here. . . horse-drawn carriages frequent our neighbourhood as locals go to visit friends on enormous farms (middleburg area). And we still find civil war items in the dirt.
Wife's waist does not compare to that of Scarlet, but her veggie garden is about on par!

Great post. And I had to laugh when I read about finding civil war items. Hard to believe but it's true! Just a few years ago they found some artifacts when they were building townhouses down the street from me. Apparently items discarded by someone trying to escape over the river and lightening his load. And just a few years ago they found a cannonball in Sugarland Run. It's now at the Reston Museum.

Yes, it was planted in Nottoway Park - less than 1 mile from my home.

Some of the drivers on the beltway are straight out of the movie Shrek. On any given day you'll see the ogre, the jackass, a sweet young thing who suddenly morphs into something else, and even the shrimpy little guy who thinks he's king and is on a power trip.

I think it was Robert Hanssen who was dropping off secrets for the Russians at Foxstone Park. We ride our bikes to the that park often.

LOL! Shrek's neighborhood could be in northern Virginia, you know. Look at all the diversity in his neighbors--they represent all colors, shapes, sizes, not to mention varieties of gingerbread cookies. Sounds like a Nova neighborhood to me.

Also, Shrek's home is in a swamp. Some parts of Nova down near Quantico used to be a swamp. Coincidence???? Hmmmmm...... Sounds like this movie is all about Nova to me.

True. Prince Charming lives in a castle that's almost as big as some of the McMansions in Lansdowne...

Well Arlington Ridge is the first to come to mind. There are many movies that remind me of DC, but I'm sure about NOVA. Of course, the military movies with scenes from the Pentagon count since the Pentagon is technically in VA.
And Remember the Titans...
