Well, now that the snow has almost finally melted, my husband and I are considering putting a fence in our backyard. Please let me know if you have recently used a fence company and, if so, what your experience was. Thanks!

We're in Woodbridge/Dale City, but we used HalCo and they were great. Very professional, competitive prices (and less expensive than some other companies), but the quality of work was amazing. Quick turnaround, fence put in a week after we signed the contract and the actual installation took less than a day.

I've used
Expert Fence in Alexandria twice and been happy with price, quality, and service each time. For aesthetic reasons, we wanted to use a rather uncommon type of vinyl-coated wire for one run, and not only did they find and install it, but 18 months later when a tree fell on it and squashed 50 feet worth, they found it again and did a seamless repair. Cool! As their website points out, they're at the top of the heap in Checkbook Magazine as well...

Hercules, LongFence, Prince William Home Improvement are all too expensive. We are in PWC and went with Builders Fence Company. They used better materials, such as 6x6 posts for the gate, better hinges, etc. They did our deck, too.

We are getting ready to put up a fence and are looking at going with Carter's Fencing. Very professional when he arrived and the best price out of all our quotes--we had HalCo, Hercules, Builders Fence, Home Depot, A&A Fence, and Lion's (maybe some others, can't remember). Didn't bother w/ Long Fence or PWHI as we heard they were very expensive.

Never used them for fencing, but I can put in a good word for PWHI on about a dozen windows they replaced for us, including a large picture window that needed custom work to replace some 60-year old frame work that had rotted out. Quick, clean, affordable, and professional. The windows have been in now for four years and they look and work just great. Very happy with how that job turned out...

We went with PWHI for a fence and deck when I lived in Woodbridge. We had priced out a few other contractors, and while PWHI were a bit more expensive, the quality of the work was better than any of the others we found.
