We are considering a move to Haymarket. My husbands office is in Springfield, but may move to Quantico. Does anyone know what the commute to Quantico would be like?

Thanks,
Liz

Default Ugh

I used to live in Fredericksburg, and I work at Battlefield High on Route 15. It took me approximately 70 minutes to make the drive from Fburg to Haymarket and up to 100 minutes to make the drive from Haymarket to Fburg home in the afternoon.

You can probably use this information to infer a commute time. I didn't find much difference between taking 15 to 17 or 66 to 234 to 95. (Obviously the latter is preferable for your route.)

The OP would not go either way for the Haymarkey to Quantico commute. From Haymarket I'd take either 619 (Linton Hall Rd from Gainesville) all the way to the Quantico entrance off Rt 1 (main gate) or 619 to 234 (Dumfries Rd) to Rt 1 then south to the main gate. Depending on the time of day you're looking at 30 minutes to maybe 40 minutes tops.

Have you looked into Stafford? It is a much shorter commute to Quantico.

We live in Bristow, and my husband commutes to Quantico. From the intersection of Linton Hall/Sudley Manor to the main gate in Triangle along the 619 takes about 30 minutes. It's a nice commute though--very few traffic lights (just those few before and at the 28) and nice scenery (sod farms, pw forest, etc)

Thanks, this is making me feel better about the move. It seems like a place he could commute to either location. Quantico would actually be a better commute than Springfield.

It's so hard to get any sense of commuting times in this area from maps. IT seems even a little change like a new exit really effects time.

You could also forget about Linton Hall Road, and take Vint Hill Road because it does not have any stop lights. Vint Hill Road may save you about 5-10 minutes in your commute.

You need to tack on another 20 minutes or so if you plan to commute from Haymarket. I am guessing you are looking at Dominion Valley?? Other posters have given you times from the Gainesville/Bristow border.

Depending on where in Haymarket can make a difference in time. Dominion Valley is outside the Haymarket Town limits but is technically still Haymarket as far as a mailing address. This commute is still far better than many people have it going from Haymarket to DC or anywhere around the DC beltway.
