By the way, has anyone tried going out on the river yet this year? I was over at Great Falls and didn't even see any of the crazy kayakers out--I guess the river is still too high this year from all the rain earlier this spring.

What about in the more peaceful parts of the river, like upstream around Algonkian Park? Usually by this time of year I've gone out a few times but this year I'm not sure when it will be calm enough for the average everyday kayakers. Has anyone tried it?

Some of the other rivers might be fine by now. I wouldn't try the Potomac yet.

I looked at the river this morning. It's still a little too high, IMO.
