Go with Costco. Take the leftovers to work. They'll be gone by 9:30.

We got a delicious cake for our kids' baptism party from Giant (Ryan Park).

I've done Wegmans, Costco, Safeway, Harris Teeter & Giant, and I have to say Giant was the best. We take a picture in and they have scanned onto the cake, and you would not believe how clear that picture turns out

My only reservation about Costco cakes is they need to be refrigerated. (I asked the lady in the bakery to be sure and she said yes because they do the whipped cream or creamed cheese icing). I never have enough room in my refrigerator for that huge cake, especially when I'm doing food for a party too. But they are tasty and definitely a good price for all that cake. (especially the carrot cake)

I think Giant's sheet cakes are very good tasting - better than Safeway's. (I've never had Wegman's or Harris Teeter's). I don't think you can go wrong with Giant. Costco's are good if you need to feed a large crowd of kids for cheap, but I think Giant's taste better and seem to be better quality.

I like Wegmans because they have all kinds to choose from. If you want the icing that's so ridiculously sweet it should be scraped off, they have that. If you want icing that's like whipped cream and not so sweet, they have that too.

I have to say I despise that Costco cake. I'm not into icing and to me it's all icing and that gross center mousse thing. Yet it's very popular. The last 2 kids bdays I've been to had Wegman's cakes (but in Haymarket/Gainesville). They both did the 1/2 chocolate, 1/2 yellow cake. The choc. was better than the yellow and I usually prefer yellow. I'd say Wegman's is better than the other grocery stores. For really great cake (but expensive) you have to go w/ Amphora's in Herndon! Incredible! I drove 50 miles (roundtrip) on Sat. to get my mother's bday cake there--she chose peach mango mousse and it was great. All of their cakes are.
