Any recommendations for a seamstress in Fairfax? I don't need a lot done on the dress, but would like someone who does good quality work and might be close to the Burke area. Thanks in advance.

Naomi's Tailoring on Route 50 just west of 7 Corners and a little east of the Zips dry cleaners.

I just took a bunch of stuff to Twinbrooke Cleaners on Twinbrooke and Braddock. They came on a rec from neighbors. I haven't picked them up yet, but they were great at fitting.

I use Royal Valet in the Ravensworth Shopping Plaza at Port Royal and Braddock Rd (just before the Beltway exit). Very good work and close to Burke.

Weezycom, would you happen to have a number for Naomi's Tailoring?

I took a couple dresses there after recommendations from this forum, and now none of them fit They work is high quality (they removed zippers and the stitching looks great) but they took them in way too much.

Maybe it was a total fluke, but for $100 (what I paid for one dress to get taken in) I expected better than that. Total for 2 hems, and taking in 2 dresses was $210. Yikes!

Sorry to hear of your bad experience. May I suggest that you take the dress back and show the seamstress it doesnt fit. Let her fix it or request a refund. There is no reason you should pay for someone to alter clothing so that it does not fit.

Unfortunately, I am at the age where I never have anything taken in. All my work is having sleeves and hems shortened so it never occurred to me that this could happen. Again, sorry things did not work out. I hope it can be made right.

Yeah, I probably should...but I'm not very good at confrontation. Unfortunately, there's no fabric to let it out again, so I could argue for a refund but it's not worth the hassle for the money, imo. I just need to start buying clothes that fit instead of hoping that I can get them taken in!

I'm spoiled, my grandmother altered everything for me growing up! Does anyone want to adopt me as their grand child out here and be my seamstress?
