Whenever I'm in Alexandria I see people up high on the Masonic Temple and think, "Hmmm, I wonder if that's a good view?" I looked at their website and it's free admission, free parking, free tours, so I might check it out. Has anyone been there and how is the view?

Great view but allow plenty of time for your trip. The only way to get to the top (as of when I visited 2 years ago) is to take a 1 hour plus (close to 2 hours?) tour with information about masonry, masonic orders, etc.

Thanks for sharing your experiences and pics. Pretty good view! I'm not sure if I'm up for an in-depth tour though.

I went and it's a great view. As for the tour, I remember having an alternate option to the long tour (we took the long one). I can't remember if it skipped the viewing platform or just went straight up, but I want to say it just went straight up because the tour guide was older and mentioned that it was good for people who couldn't stand for too long.

That said, the longer tour was pretty interesting. My relatives from England (who are Masons) were with us and loved it. The newest Dan Brown had also come out, and the tour guide was a big fan, so he pointed out things that were in the book (or were incorrect/exaggerated). I didn't think it was much more than an hour, though.
