In the last few months I have been going to Hammond to buy various good (not illegal ones) and go to the Horseshoe casino alot more often then I used to in the past. Usually I drive with someone, but today I took a Casino shuttle from Chicago. But that kind of restricts me from getting my shopping done in addition to hitting the Casino since it is a long, long, walk from the Casino just to the closest gas station or Liquor store.

I have considered taking the South Shore to Hammond to run my errands and go to the Casino, but the bus that travels between the Horseshoe and the train stop does not run very late and seems to be improperly routed and scheduled in sync with the times the South Shore arrives and leaves (at least Route 1). I would like to do more of my business in Hammond, but the bus system seems to be pretty worthless on the North end of town at least...

I am not trying to put down the city at all. I am just frustrated that it is such a pain in the butt to take the South Shore there and then not really be able to get around by bus and get anything done.

Is there any plans to tweak the public transit system at all? I think Hammond is missing out on alot of business from Chicago because of the inconvienent bus system.

Talk to Mitch Daniels. He leased the Indiana Toll Road to make infrastructure improvements ... good luck with that.

I'm still wondering what the fetch is going on with the transit system, make up minds and let us know! I ride the bus (99.9% of the time route 5) when needed and I've heard a half a billion things about what future plans are for H.T.S,again..what the fetch!?
