If I bought a brand new bike I would certainly want the best service I could find shipping that baby across the ocean. a few hundred dollars more for expert on both ends, crated, air freight shipping vs a month a sea..........a no brainer to me.
OK, I had to think long and hard... It has been over 12 years, BUT, my husband shipped his Motorcycle from Oregon (Coos Bay) to Honolulu on SAUSE BROTHERS. Too bad I can't remember the cost..
I just looked on their website and looks like they have another location in Ranier Oregon.
Check it out- good luck..!!
I shipped a jetski and trailer on Pasha which had to leave from SD also. Pasha was able to give me a qoute to have their freight forwarder ship ( I believe it was by flat bed truck) down to SD from SF. I forgot the additional freight costs, and ulimately my brother trailered it down there since he was going down to SD anyway. Anyway, you might ask Pasha for a qoute to ship your crated bike from Seattle/Portland to SD.
I am going to ship a motorcycle from boston to Honolulu. So far the cheapest seems $ 1,200. Do folks still share shipping containers these days?
