They had one in Chinatown in Honolulu, although it was small. There's no question the #OWS Movement is gaining traction. Today there were protests around the whole world and riots in Italy. What we have is an enraged middle/working class worldwide that is sick and tired of banks and corporations paying off governments. They demand governments represent their concerns and not those of high finance.

The Wall Street "occupiers" so to speak, are worldwide as stated here. Over 190 US cities, this week in Columbia and Charleston , SC and some violence in overseas areas. They really need to go the the Congress at the Capitol and protest as well. Any here that use banks, such as wire transfers, etc are ripped off daily. The banks "process" your funds and say (tell YOU) it takes 3-5 days, deduct the money from YOUR account, "float it" with hundreds of other account transfers and make interim interest. Finally they finish the transfer -made a extra profit-and then the recipient receives the funds. Plus YOU paid for the service !! I wire transferred several hundred from a bank checking account to a federal credit union savings account, and it took 4 business days!! I specifically asked them "why does it take multiple business days to " electronically " SEND money THERE, to a financial institution, over there"? I wanted to learn and understand. NO ANSWER. I asked " what difference is entering DIGITS into an electronic equipment and having to wait DAYS, and, sending an e mail or twitter message"? Finally an answer: "Please contact our corporate offices". NO, I AM contacting YOU IN the bank and YOU are going to respond. I have sent correspondence to the Federal Government and WILL get an answer that makes sense. Banks are "misleading" and steal from you, as in debit card charges on YOUR account to withdraw! Move funds to a Federal Credit Union like N*** Federal or others.

Just watching the news this morning - there is an occupy Honolulu event from 6-10pm tonight at Magic Island. Only in Hawaii do you have an event to protest after working hours on the beach.

'Occupy Wall Street' Gaining Respect...From Wall Street? - Forbes

"CEO of one of the nation’s largest private asset managers, PIMCO, Mohammed El-Erian writes, “Some observers seem to be repeating a mistake that many made in Egypt, Israel and Tunisia — that of falling hostage to an outmoded way of thinking about seemingly-leaderless grass movements. Such observers are quick to dismiss OWS because it is fragmented and lacks a detailed list of demands. They argue that it is long on criticisms of the past and short on solutions for the future. They note that it is not structured to navigate the current political setup. Accordingly, they conclude that the impact will be transitory and inconsequential. While these reactions are understandable, this conclusion about OWS is likely to be proven wrong as it ignores a powerful reality: A peaceful drive for greater social justice can unify people from diverse cultural backgrounds, political affiliations, religions, and social classes…Through constructive collaboration, the movement’s energy and intensity can – and hopefully will — be combined with other influences to formulate forward-looking solutions for an America that must desperately regain its economic vigor, provide more jobs, and deliver better on its traditional commitment to social fairness and equal opportunities.”
