Hi all,

Going to Waikiki this March from the 13th to 21st.

Can anyone recommend a good hotel or vacation rental?
What site?

Also is it better to rent mopeds or a car?

Thank You

What is your budget and how many people are going? Also, do you like to stay somewhere fancy or just want a clean place to sleep?

My budget is under $1200. I will be coming down for spring break with the wife.
It does not matter, it will be our first time. We would like some place that is close to beach and shopping center.

I have stayed at the Ilikai many times and have recommended it to many people. The building is next door to the Hilton Hawaiian Village. There is a hotel in the building but there are also privately owned condo's that are rented out.

I typically rent a privately owned condo from this company: Waikiki Hawaii (HI) Condo Rentals | Vacation | Beach | Luxury

All of the units in their rental pool have been nicely upgraded and you can find a unit to fit your budget depending on whether you want an ocean view or city view or 1 bdrm or 2 bdrm. The building common areas are very nice. There is a coffee shop, a small convenience store, a restaurant, etc. It is clean and safe. Read the reviews on Trip Advisor and you will see they are overwhelmingly positive.

Just remember you need to add tax to the room rates and there is also a cleaning fee charged for you stay in addition to the room rent.

It is on the west end of Waikiki Beach and just a couple blocks to the Ala Moana Mall or the Beach Park. But it is a bit of a walk to get down into the heart of the shopping district along the main strip. But you can buy a week long pass on the trolly if you like. I just walk along the beach.

Anyway, that's the building I always recommend in Waikiki unless your budget is $300/night ... then that's a different story.

At the far other end of Waikiki there is the Astin Waikiki Beach Hotel. It is more in the heart of things and right across the street from the beach. it's also a little more expensive for a smaller room and the parking is more expensive also. But it is closer to the main walking area and it would likely be my second choice.

Good luck and have a good trip.

I would check out All About Travel and you can prices everything there. If a clean but cheap place to sleep, in the heart of Waikiki is what you are looking for, I would recommend the Park Shore Waikiki an AQUA Hotel.
