Irritating tourist phrase #1, "I got leid in Hawaii", often seen on cheap souvenir tshirts (and postcards, etc). You might as well wear a big sign:"I am a goofy tourist".
Location: not sure, but there's a hell of a lot of water around here!

'I am a goofy tourist' t-shirts!!!!!!!!!!!! NOW WE'RE TALKIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wonder if I can get em printed up before the rest of the whales get here??? (I mean 'tourists')
Which place would you rather retire? Which has the better:
-scenery
-people
-palm trees
-weather
-atmosphere
-culture
We're on a Hawaii Forum, so we're all going to basically go with Hawaii.
I don't have anything against Palm Springs whatsoever. But, my first image is a place where wealthy Angelinos go to be among other wealthy Angelinos.
I also drove around there once, and it reminded me of a giant suburb in the middle of the desert. It didn't strike me a place for 'me', but another person might find something like that to be their own paradise.
In short, you'd have to search deep down on yourself, and what you'd like, to find which is better for you.
For me, I like Hawaii culture, scenery, atmosphere, palm trees, etc. But another person, might prefer a more California desert based one with heavy L.A. money influences.

Sounds reasonable. Just curious though, you seem to reside in Japan, and your many postings are oriented around Hawaii. Is there some reason with your Hawaii pro stance, that you do/have not, move(d) into Hawaii "permanently", and remain firmly in Japan? Even IF you may have (guessing) in laws in Japan, many that move to Hawaii, have family in many "other" locations as well. Not meant as a criticism, but if someone says " Go West, Young Man", and lives in London, kind of reduces the impact. Either way, best success.

Off-topic, so I won't elaborate too much.
But, we all follow forums of places we either live in or interested in living. I also follow the 'Asia' forum, and have plenty more posts there, none of which are about Hawaii.
I consider my days in Japan limited, although I enjoy it here. So, I follow about 3-4 forums from time-to-time, all with equal consideration of possibly living in their respective cities.
