Pretty interesting . Shows how little we know about the Earth ocean floor.

GEOLOGISTS say they've uncovered a volcano that is the biggest in the world and rivals the greatest in the Solar System.

Dubbed Tamu Massif, the volcano is part of the Shatskiy Rise, a deep plateau on the floor of the Pacific located about 1600km east of Japan, they said.
It comprises a single, immense, rounded dome in the shape of a shield, formed of hardened lava from an eruption around 144 million years ago.
It covers around 310,000 square kilometres - the equivalent area of Britain and Ireland combined - and slopes upwards to a height of around 3.5km above the sea floor.
"Tamu Massif is the largest known single, central volcano in the world," the team reported in the journal Nature Geoscience.

Well, lets try and see who on this forum will be offended by Tamu.... First, it's a very large volcano, so it obviously has created/obtained a great deal of property, sooo, WViper shouldn't take offense. It, being a volcano, and therefore extremely old, and, supposedly wise as well, will get along well with OD, although one erupts while the other pontificates, that shouldn't matter.. It's located off Japan, so, it's not a 'haole' volcano, but, more of a 'katonk', I think HBHeart can cope with that. And, it won't be seeking welfare or Section 8 assistance, seeing as it is self-sufficient, that leaves MD and 3 out of the offended loop. HOWEVER,,, Madame Pele may take offense, and that could be a problem.

Myself, I could give a kukae. I'm still trying to deal with all this water

LOL, hilarious. The concern by many scientists is any activity that may generate tsunamis which would affect the islands, and elsewhere. We shall remain positive minded and vigilant to all "ripple effects" on the forum . Surf's up?

But Japan and China will soon be threatening to go to war over who owns it.

144 million years old, it is probably done growing, so isn't likely to break the surface.
