I was just accepted to HPU and plan on relocating from Delaware to Hawaii to pursue my bachelors in Management. I have an associates degree in business and am working at a restaurant currently. The tentative plan is to transfer from the franchise here in DE to the franchise in HI (yes, there is one, and although i haven't formally requested transfer yet it is located in Honolulu) So in theory that takes care of having a job as soon as I move there. Any information on places to live (close to campus/work) public transportation, or any thing else I need to know?? I am in the early stages of planning this move so I haven't really got it all figured out yet.
Do you know which side of the island most of your classes will be on? HPU has the gorgeous campus over by Kaneohe but they also have a lot of their classes in assorted buildings in Honolulu's financial district on the other side of the island. They have a shuttle bus as well as the city buses would go there, too, but shuttling between sides of the island would take about forty five minutes or more, I'd expect. Although, if you get the job transferred, you'd probably want to be somewhere near the job, too.
Does the college have a dormitory? That might be less expensive than an apartment. Otherwise, sharing an apartment is what many students do.
I haven't really looked into anything yet I just received my acceptance. The move is not definite yet but is in the early stages. I would likely be moving with a buddy of mine in the exact same situation. The job is as a waiter at a restaurant..will I be able to support myself waiting tables? all the pages I have seen talking about costs are a little frightening. We live pretty simple just like any other college kids, im really only worried about costs of living and finding a place to live. I think we will be able to fit in as long as its like any normal college atmosphere at HPU.
