Also, I suppose the Japanese, who take of their shoes regularly, are nothing but a bunch of degenerates with no manners or good breeding. And the interiors of their houses are disgusting and loaded with footprints.
That is a bunch of baloney, I'm at Japanese homes all the time and rarely do they do the shoe thing.
I'm not talking about Japan - I'm talking about Oahu, where they were born in the US.
You are literally the only person here in Hawaii who I have heard say this.

They may let you wear shoes in their house because they're polite, but I can guarantee they talk about you and your dirty shoes and filthy habits behind your back.

Yup. I'd quote what they would typically say about that but some here would find it "racist".

That would be odd since they themselves don't do the silly shoe thing.
I've stated before if someone does the silly shoe thing I'll do the silly shoe thing. Most people I know don't do the silly shoe thing.
If I go to someone's house and there are a bunch of slippahs by the front door, then I know that I'm expected to take my shoes off before going inside. Whether they are Chinese, Japanese, Hawaiian, or Coloradoan, it's their custom at their house so I honor it.
Some people I know have a bunch of "indoor" slippers that they offer people who, for whatever reason, don't want to walk around in bare feet. My husband has foot problems and it is very uncomfortable for him to walk on a hard wood or tile floor barefoot, so he wears the slippers that are offered. I guess some people may consider that to be unsanitary, but among friends it works.
When I was younger the worst thing was leaving a party towards the end, and all that is left is mis-matched slippers!

Exactly, even i remember that and it doesn't have to be a drinking party either, try birthday party wit 40 keiki from school, all have slippahs. See its little stuff like this that gives one wahine credibility as a kama'aina. See somethings change somethings remain timeless.
