Yes, had that happen one time in a very nice upscale gated by the ocean home. The visiting cat had fleas and they just infested the rug. It was miserable trying to sleep with ankles getting bitten. So true!

I can see why so many homes have tile or stone floors but they are hard to walk on and take some getting used to for me.

I suppose that is better than a Roomba as long as they immediately go back to their designated storage spot and don't sit around begging for more.

One of the jobs for my dogs is to immediately clean up any food that spills. A river of ants might be cheaper to feed and easier to care for. No vet bills, no dog food purchased, no flea treatments or heart worm pills.

OMG, I think you may be onto something.... a kind of free-range ant farm?

It's a good question, isn't it? We moved from Hawaii to Florida, and I am still trying to figure out why we have carpeting. Carpet is great for cold winters, but if you live someplace where that isn't happening, tile or lino is the way to go. I can't wait to tear this stuff out and lay down a good floor that we can sweep, and throw that vacuum cleaner away.
