I personally think it is sad when people think money for the state just appears out of thin air.

Obviously the tax money was there before todays redevelopment of kakaako for example. What was it 200million just spent on just infrastructure alone for the development? How much tax money was spent so the developers could build a new International market place or just another mall? Just as i was saying its not the end result but the means of getting that result sometimes thats the issue.

No, that's NOT what I was saying. Waikiki has been improved steadily throughout the years. Lewers Street reno is awesome, one of my favorite areas on the rare occasions I go to Waikiki.

Huh?

Money seems to be making its way to Waikiki and it gets more and more beautiful every time we visit!
You should go to Hawaii sometime HBH. I really think you would like it!

Well like i said b4, i no doubt would probably find a bunch of things i love or like, its my home and where my heart and spirit is. But i will probably be upset and grieve for the things that are bad and lost too. I can always find something wonderful about anything.

Huh? That is what you said right? "I was always shocked at how raggedy Waikiki was pre-Harris. It was like the State collectively said: "We have beaches and good weather. We don't need to do anything else."

Still hate the trip from the airport to Waikiki, though they did some clean-up with APEC. I'm surprised more high rises are not ripped down in Kaimuki/McCully area and rebuilt. It's just dingy."

Well like it said its not like there wasn't money to improve or clean up the dengy neighborhoods.

Kuhio could use some improvement. I read awhile ago that there were plans to improve it with better lighting, more trees, etc. But I've yet to see it actually happen.

Kapiolani Blvd on the back side of the mall is a nice example of how just planting rows of trees can make a big aesthetic improvement.

Slowly but surely it is getting there (like the Hilton opening) - but it still seems very ghetto like once it gets dark with a decent amount of crime late night.

Eventually the shady businesses on Kuhio will close down and rebuilt with something decent.

So, it is your position they upgraded the infrastructure only in the 1980's just to develop it in 2015 - wow, what visionaries they must have been.

So the only way to get improvements is basically have gentrafication happen? I doubt hawaii or the country lacks in hilton hotels? Im sorry, you must see how this is wrong right? Every community pays taxes right? But i bet you a box of Leonard's Malasadas that if Kuhio was slated to be the next kakaako there wouldn't be any problems.

Anyway Kuhio used to be gorgeous. I remember the old Kuhio theater, it had a fountain inside and gorgeous modern decore.
