My wife and I will be traveling to Honolulu in December for a seminar that I am presenting, and it will be our first trip to Hawaii. We will be extending our trip several days to allow us some vacation time, however, I do not know what to expect weather wise that time of year, nor do I have any idea of hotels/resorts to stay in.

I am guessing that my wife would like to experience the "romantic" side of Hawaii, so I don't know if that would affect any advice given.

Thanks in advance for your help!

December is the beginning of the rainy season - although the entire trip might be sunshine. December tends to be drier than Jan/Feb. Expect about 80 for the high and 70 for the low.

As far as hotels, you've got Waikiki area hotels, the Kahala Hotel, and Turtle Bay (North Shore). I'd start the research there or somewhere like tripadvisor.

Don't believe these lies, make sure you bring a jacket, gloves and a hat. Snow is common in December, the Kona winds blow it over to Oahu from the summits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa.

If you check the City Data profile for Honolulu, near the bottom you will find historical weather data charted, showing high and low temperatures, rainfall, humidity, etc for different times of the year. Errr... snowfall? Zero.

https://www.city-data.com/city/Honolulu-Hawaii.html

You'll also find lists of hotels and attractions there, but since this is a relocation website, for vacation info you may find more touristy sites like Tripadvisor more suited to your needs.

Good luck

I was snowed in at the Royal Hawaiian in December, way back in 1985. If it hadn't been for liberal applications of various combinations of rum from Keoki at the Mai Tai Bar, I probably wouldn't have survived.

Another true,,,, uuurrrrpppp,,, scuze me, story

(but look out for those little umbrellas, they're totally useless when it comes to snowfall)
