How can I ship a car from Orlando to Honolulu? How much would it cost? What is the cheapest way to send boxes of belongings to Honolulu?

I was surprised when I was at the Hickam AFB Exchange UPS Store in Hawaii, they had info posted about shipping a car. That's one idea.

Another idea is to go to UShip and see what you come up with. I've used them to ship horses and also a dog. But that was within the CONUS.

I got a quote from one shipper regarding shipping a vehicle to Hawaii who said we could stuff the car with belongings as long as it didn't come up to the window. So I guess on the floor and seat but not covering any part of the window.

I saw someone on here who wanted to split a shipping container.

Aloha,

This topic has been discussed many times here, and the Search function will bring up more information than you probably want to know. Here are some basics...

Assuming you are not military, since you said nothing about it, I'll just mention the key options for private shippers. There are only three companies that actually ship cars between the US Mainland and Hawaii. Everyone else in the game is a middleman or broker. Those three shippers, in the order I personally recommend them, are Pasha, Matson, and Horizon. For years they have matched either's tariffs on passenger cars within a couple of dollars, and at present that tariff is $1,100 from their West Coast ports.

The car must be completely empty, with no more than a quarter tank of gas.

The part of the trip between Orlando and the West Coast will be by truck, and can be arranged directly with an auto transport company, or booked through the shipping company. Just to give you a rough idea of what one company could do for you, Pasha offers an East Coast dropoff terminal at Portsmouth, VA for $2,629 to Honolulu.

That should get you started. For all the myriad of choices for your household goods, use the Advanced Search feature up top, select the Hawai'i forums, and checkoff the choice to return results as Posts. What you'll get is a list of links to the posts containing the search term. Happy hunting.

This is the best way to ship a vehicle to Hawaii. As said above.
Best of luck with your move.

I live in Virginia Beach! This is great information! I owe you a case of your favorite.

Portsmouth is 12 hours from Orlando. I've done the drive multiple times. I4→I95→Va58 (Just don't speed in Emporia. #1 Speed trap in Virginia. And you can't mail in your fine.
