Well we could always go back to all but enslaving immigrants such as filipino and chinese. The idealic past was not idealistic. All sorts of human atrocities were the norm.

No one is saying go back and live in the past, why are you fixatted on that? Here's an example that maybe you can understand and it's from Hawaii. Kajukenbo is the first mixed martial arts founded in Hawaii by five different masters of different martial arts creating one art. The original style is hard kenpo style. But thru the years it has evolved to 3 other branches focusing on different styles or more of kungfu, tai chi, and other arts fore example, those branches have evolved to other hybred branch styles. But no matter how many changes and branches in the art the core is always the same Kajukenbo. Same principals, Same philosophy, same ohana atitude.

That's what I'm saying you can have the modern technology and convences and still be fundamentaly Hawaii. But get rid of the importance of ohana, aloha, community, get rid of the slow pace and pidgin English and other things local then you don't have Hawaii But a tropical mainland island.

Ha, ha, ha, no it's an obvious indication of an inbalance in our weather. Take a look at the east coast and the dying trade winds is that caused by an inbalance in nature such as toxins or global warming or is it the natural order of things?

And we are so off topic from the original post. But it is interesting that people do think the issues of growth and etc are only oahu today issues and weren't dealt with by locals in the past. Thats why that documentary in the beginning of the thread was interesting. People from my time on oahu predicted todays issues with almost perfection.
