Security clearance requirements for IT jobs (2015, military, installation)

In DC metropolitan area, I would say at least about 80%, if not more, of IT jobs require clearance so if you don't have clearance or are not clearable for some reason, it closes a lot of doors. Perhaps, it may be due to the area being the capital of the nation?... Is it about the same in Ohau or any other islands in Hawaii due to the military installations there?

Yes, it is. Need a security clearance for IT work, or any Gov work place. The type of clearance will correspond to the job you apply for.
You can get a job in the gov in some places and be hired, with out a security clearance. But will have to do the security Background check, and have it completed, before they let you do any important job task. You have to have a clean record before you apply, it is important.

Plenty of private sector IT jobs on Oahu - but the well paying ones tend to be with the Government/Military that require security clearance
