I grew up in hilo hawaii. I lived in the orchid land Estates. I'm curious if there's anything in Oahu similar to the orchid land estates. I'd be working near Diamond Head and of course would like to be as close to that as possible...probably the worst case scenario on that island.

I hear the free diving and dirt biking is even better on oahu...currently I'm living in Florida and would love the chance to come home.

does anybody know if well water is available or is everybody on catchment?

Nothing on Oahu is like Orchidland. Even way out by Kunia isn't like Orchidland. Nothing near Diamond Head is anything like Puna.

You may want to try Kaimuki, it almost has a downtown Hilo vibe to it, but that's probably as close as you're gonna get.

Most everyone on Oahu is on city water, although there's some catchment up Tantalus. You can pretty well figure everything around Diamond Head will be city water and probably city sewers, too.

About all of the farm-type land on the island is owned by one or another of the major operators -- and, increasingly, the following year's crop will be housing.

There is a scatering of small farms mainly on the North shore and the Waianae cost.
You will be better looking on the Neighboring Islands. For looking to start up.
Like mentioned, most farms on Oahu are major operator owned now.
