Looking for information on two fronts - we're wanting to ship a family heirloom desk from Honolulu to us in Oregon and wanted to know who you might recommend; and also would like recommendations of a furniture consignment store for other items we're not wanting to ship.

Our early 1940s family heirloom piano was shipped from Kapa'a to the midwest using Royal Hawaiian Movers. No issues and it arrived in fine condition...MINUS the termites!
In case anyone else runs into this, shipping a desk is a real pain. Too big for UPS, and movers have a 1000/500 lb minimum weight that makes it way expensive. We ended up finding a freight forwarder, DHX, that supplied our person in HNL with a pallet and shrinkwrap to attach the desk - she just had to blanket it up for protection. Less than $500!

Good deal! Did the desk get to where it was going in one piece. I Assume it did or you would have said so?
Thanks for the post.
Update - pallet arrived in great shape, and price was actually LOWER than originally quoted. Can absolutely recommend John Nguyen at DHX - Dependable Hawaiian Express.
"Google is your friend" - well, first you have to know what kind of shipping company to Google for, then you have to reach out to them, then they actually have to respond in a timely manner with a good price. That's how we ended up with DHX.
