Please think long and hard before you commit to a hellish commute.

Did anyone even read where the commute was to/from?

It's a 40 minute reverse commute if near H3.

That's the thought in the back of my mind. We're just going to have to try out the commutes during rush hour and try to get a feel for it. If it turns out it's really only a 10-15 minute difference, that's not so bad. If it's 30 minutes or more extra, maybe not as worth it.

I guess if we were to end up somewhere near Aiea, the plus side is we'd be closer to the Pearl Harbor commissary, which from what I hear is better than the one at Kaneohe. Not sure how really excited that makes me.

Guess I'm spoiled. To me a 40-minute commute IS hellish.

Agreed. People don't put much value on their free time, their well-being and overall health. I wouldn't tolerate more than 15-20 minutes to get to work - during rush hour.

People in West Oahu spend 500 hours a year sitting in their cars ruining their bodies and wasting gas. That's 62 full 8-hour days (three months of work a year)... sitting in traffic. That's beyond insane.

Not to mention these people are disproportionate tax burdens for the rest of us that have enough common sense to live near our work.

Unfortunately the OP will have a household with commuters that work on two ends of the island. You can't win with that.

Yup, pretty much what PJ said, 'you can't win with that'.

Every time we visit Oahu it seems the traffic is getting worse and worse. Useta be you could go counter flow and still get around, now it seems it's getting so crowded that folks are going every which way all the time. Although, we are probably spoiled by being able to walk to a town with no stop lights in it. That's not luck, though, that's planning.

Traffic is certainly worse than let's say 2008 - one can thank ultra-low unemployment for more cars on the road.

LOCALS sold out to the haoles. Locals created their own mess by pissing away their paradise. Locals want their money but then complain. Stupid locals.

Can't argue with that. I tell everyone I know NEVER sell unless they plan to move off the island and NEVER come back. Apparently it's easier said than done when the carrot is dangled that closely to their face.

I had assumed they at least held out for trinkets and heads.
