I'm moving to Oahu in 3 months and I'm freaking out about the cost of living there. I'll have a monthly income of $2700 dollars but I dont know if that will be enough to cover my basic living expenses. I'll try to find a part-time job there but I don't know how hard will it be. Any advice will help! thanks.

Op first your not telling us anything. Which island are you moving too. Are you single? What's your work experience. Do you want to maintain the lifestyle you lived on the mainland? Are you willing to make sacrifices. Are you wanting to ship your things or start over. Do you want a car and ship it. Etc etc. More info please. Mahalo

Your best bet is to rent a room from someone. Is that taxable income?

How about a net monthly income from $5,584.49 to $6,751.16 for two peeps that live together in a small condo/ I think it is doable and we could have some funds to go out a bit.

If a homeowner rents a room a room - then that is considered taxable income, which is often not reported. For instance, if I live in a 3 bedroom condo, rent 1 bedroom to someone - it is taxable income.

On the flip side, the homeowner is entitled to a lot of deductions to offset the income.

Almost no one does that, but that's not what I meant. I meant the OPs income.

I took the title to answer everyone's question of which island, and the sub-forum they posted in.
