Hi! I'm thinking about moving to Honolulu short-term (probably mid-June to mid-November). I am hesitant to stay at any of the hostels after reading their reviews, so I'm thinking about booking an airbnb while I look for a room for rent. The cancellation policy is pretty strict so I'm wondering how long of a stay to book. About how long does it normally take to find a room for rent in Honolulu? There seems to be plenty of stuff on craigslist but I'm not sure how much competition there is, or if my inability to sign a long-term lease would be a big issue.

Its been a few years ago, but we stayed at the Palms in Waikiki. We just walked in, got a room, and stayed as long as we wanted. Having a furnished kitchen really helped. It was cheap and plain.

Agree check out the Palms. What you want is the kitchen like posted.
Best of luck.

Housekeeping is optional in some of them. Too bad tax isn't!
