Friend heading to Oahu in the next couple days. Is everything safe right now with the volcano on the Big Island about to erupt?

Considering that the volcano is some 200 miles from Oahu, and has been going off non-stop since 1983, I would venture to guess that Oahu is no less safe now than it ever is. You just have to watch out for the cannibals.

And the occasional head hunter, at the airport

Yes Oahu is safe. If the Trade Winds shift, and come from the Southwest. Then we get the Vog and smoke from the volcano. If you have Asthma or Respiratory problems it might have affect on you? If the Trade Winds are blowing should be no problem with the Smoke and Vog

Oh, And alert your 'friend' about the radical Isis Coqui frog who, in addition to his monotone 'Cokee - Cokee, ' sometimes croaks out ;'Death to the tourist Infidels!'
and just might throw a coconut at you.

(There is extra Insurance he/she purchase from their Travel Agent to protect them from these Vacation Killjoys.

have your friend Check the fine print.)
