Any opinions or information about this neighborhood is much appreciated. Is it clean, nice and safe? Advantage and disadvantages of living there? Weather there as compared to other areas in Kailua?

Thank you in advance.

Are you talking about Hillcrest Subdivision in Kailua Kona on the Big Island?

I'm referring to Hillcrest Kailua in Oahu. It's near Enchanted Lake area and Keolu Hills. Just wondering what the neighborhood there is like.

Aloha,

I will try to answer your question since no one else responded. I actually looked at a house in this neighborhood about a year ago. My impressions were good. As you noted, the area overlooks Enchanted Lake and is terraced into the hillside. Depending on what side of the street you are on, and the way the house is oriented, you can have some nice views. I thought it had a good feel to it. Most of the houses were kept up well and power lines were underground. Overall it seemed that the streets higher up (with better views) were nicer. I remember some of the streets you had to drive through to get to the higher up area being more random.

For us it did not work because we have a child and most of the homes (being built on the hillside) did not have big yards, or in the case of the house we looked at, any yard at all. I am sure this varies, however. Also, the streets are steep and windy (again because of the hillside location) and so you could not have riden bikes, scooters, etc., so for our family it was not the right fit. But, I would say, depending on what you are looking for, it is worth a look!

Best of luck to you!

Default Kialua a great place

I lived in Kialua up on the hillside overlooking the ocean and loved everyday. I would still be there if I had not returned home to take care of mom and dad. I would not look anywhere else. You have found paradise in the middle of paradise.
