I read that today! I used to ride the bus when I first moved here...some were pretty smelly. I think the comments after the article are more amusing...gotta love the Advertiser...ha.

As much as I don't like bad odors, this proposed legislation is outrageous. First of all, who decides which odors are offensive and which ones are not? Second, will the scents (or odors) from perfumes, colognes, hair gel and deodorant be included in this bill? Third, making it law that one can be jailed for up to six months for this type of offense is insane. What BS! What's next Tam and Garcia? Is it maybe what color shirts we can and cannot wear on Thursdays. Good grief!!!!!!!!!

Having ridden on a public bus with someone who had messed their pants, another time with a drunk who had vomited on themself, I can see why they at least want the power to kick them off the bus. Fining or jailing is ridiculous.

But just for arguments sake... Would you rather those people drive home in that state?

No, but many folks that get drunk in public don't have enough sense to NOT drive drunk. The two I referred to didn't look like they owned cars anyway, or even had an address. The guy that messed himself wasn't drunk either, just nuts.
