No rain today. When will this terrible drought end?

What are you talking about? Today's the first day since the beginning of the week I was able to get outside and do a little trimming and yard work, without threat of rain. Lol, I-75 must be some sort of dividing line between wet and dry. We've been having rain pretty much every day now since the beginning of June, today was the first since Monday we've had a little bit of sun.

Thank goodness it started raining again. I was afraid I might have 15 dry minutes to clean up the yard.

Ha-ha, OK, ya got me. For a moment there I thought we were getting all the rain over here and you were dry all the time.

However, since you've lived in Dade County, you know how that can be. Rains one side of the car, dry on the other.

I had a whole hour to clean up and trim. Nice to get out and move around. Hoping for a little sun tomorrow for some swimming pool action.

I have a friend who has been up here for a long time, and she claims this year is crazy wet. I hope so. I like going outside once in a while.

Trips to the dump are a real problem in this weather, and using things like weed killer is a waste of time because it washes right off.

That's the only drawback to regular rain here. Everything grows like crazy, and quick! It wasn't until I had been here for a couple of years that I finally understood why so many folks mow the grass when wet -- sometimes you don't have a choice unless you can stand a yard that looks like a wheat field inside of 10 days. This also brings out the various tiny critters that can be annoying or simply unwelcome.

One additional problem we've been having this year (and for the first time) is that our property has been somewhat invaded by snails. We've had to use a combination of Sluggo snail bait and direct sprays on them with an ammonia/water solution regularly these past couple of months. An older lady a bit down the road had an entire side of her home covered with them, which I took care of for her. Crazy.

The lawn mowing issue is very real. I have never been a yard maintenance buff, because I abhor all types of exertion, but when I moved here, I got a diesel mower and resolved to use it. Then I found that unless I was willing to mow in the heat of the day, I had to wait days for a time when the grass wasn't wet. I didn't stop growing while I waited.

The other annoying thing about the grass here is that it doesn't grow at all for months, and then it shoots up 10 inches in a week. And the grass is so thin, you can't tell which parts you've mowed already.

The weeds are interesting, too. I can't figure out how the people who sold me this house kept them down. They grow right through pine bark mulch, and I think Roundup actually makes them stronger.

ANNNND it just started raining again.

Just stepped outside. AHHHH! There's a bit of a cool breeze blowing. Nice.

And it's actually somewhat cool this morning at 73 degrees with a bit of a breeze blowing. I like it.

Is everyone drying out a bit? Could be worse. We could be up in Pennsylvania. Saw some footage of the floods.
