I'm not a fan of extremes generally speaking. There are three distinct types of extremely stupid as far as I can tell that pervade the area (and the country, to varying extents):
There's the so-called educated, 'pay everyone thousands to stay home forever' crowd.
There's the the, 'dis virus is uh hoax st0p im-pigeon-ing on muh freedumz to buy muh beer & gunz' crowd.
There's the, 'F dat 'Rona we 'bout tuh get dat stim-uh-liss lemme get a hundrit blunt wraps and some scratch-off lotteries' crowd.
Without getting into the meta-analysis of it all, if you're wondering why we're screwed, the above is why. We literally have a concentrated microcosm of the national abdication of intellectual honesty thriving right here in our proverbial backyard.

We moved to Ocala May 7 2020 and we were the only people wearing masks. Coming from NY to Ocala at the height of the Pandemic in NY and moving to Ocala felt like Disney Land. We were in a surreal film where the people of Ocala were in denial of what was happening. We heard everything from "It is a Democrat Hoax" to " That thang aint never gonna come down here because the heat and light destroys it, and we got heat and light".
