Hi! My family is getting ready to relocate from New England, and we are considering both FL and GA, as we have family in both states. Can anyone suggest nice areas around Citrus County or surrounding counties for a young family to get settled in? I am familiar with Ocala, and I have been looking at listings there, and also in Inverness. Our price range would be $200-$225K. Thank you in advance!

It would depend on what type of lifestyle your looking for. Dunnellon *sp?* has a very laidback feel to it whereas Ocala has a definite city vibe (atleast for me as I grew up in the general area and have seen the place explode with growth). The tri-county area Lake, Sumter, and Marion counties are a retirement haven

We like "laidback", that's for sure. We're nowhere near retirememt age though. We're just looking for a nice, peaceful and affordable town that's a great place to raise kids. My parents live in Hernando, and we absolutley love it there. Are there any other areas similar to Hernando in Citrus Co or the surrounding counties? Thanks again!

Where in NE are you from? I moved from Southern Maine to Ocala in 2000 and I just love it here. If I can help you in any way just let me know. You can reach me direct at crshoemaker@earthlink.net Charlotte

The Citrus Hills area of Citrus county is very quite. It also has a very good potential for your home to appreciate in value at a greater rate than some surrounding areas. It is centrally located within the county, has a high elevation that prevents flooding problems, we are about 20 miles from Ocala.

Have you looked for listings on realtor.com or any of the other sites that have houses and the surrounding areas info? Enjoy your day and good luck!

Ocala is nice and has features a family would ejoy. So, rent for a while and take a look around before you put down roots and buy a house.
