Hi everyone!

I'm having a difficult time deciding on two cities... Huron and Hilliard...

A little back story. I was born and raised in small towns my whole adolescent and preteen life in the beautiful state of Ohio. Lived in Huron for many years growing up and then from 9-12th grade I lived in Hilliard. I have to say the best memories come from living in Huron.

Well, fast forward 14 years and I am now living in Orange County California. I haven't been back to either one of those two cities for over 14 years. I'm at the time in my life where I need to come back "home" so to speak. You know the saying, "you can take the girl out of the small town, but you can't take the small town out of the girl." Well, I am missing the small town feel. I'm tired of the hustle and bustle of the cities. I NEED to get back to the small town slower paced lifestyle that those towns offer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Julie

Here is another reason: I love the variety of Erie County, the shores and islands, and also the farmland and rural areas. I appreciate that it is within easy driving distance of Cleveland as well as other cities I like to visit. I like to boat, swim, camp, and enjoy all the other recreational opportunities the area offers.

Thank you for the input. My job is in Columbus, and I really don't mind the commute as long as I get that small town presence..

The opening next month of Hollywood Casino Columbus, OH just 7 miles South of Hilliard on I-270 could eventually affect the small town feel of Hilliard.

A Casino in Columbus? Wow times have changed. Someone also told me that I should also check out Lakewood, Ohio. It's close to Cleveland I know. The good thing about my job is that I have the option to go to Columbus or Cleveland..

Can someone fill me in about Lakewood? I've never heard of it..

Thanks!

I'm not from there, but Lakewood is a pretty cool place. I always have a good time when I go there for bars or to see some bands. Pretty diverse, open community. People from all walks of life can be found there. Right on the lake, easy and quick commute to downtown Cleveland.

Here's a video that summarizes Lakewood pretty well.
