I'd rather host the Democrat Convention anyway...they will actually go out and celebrate and drink and party afterwards instead of just go to bed because it's 10 or 11 PM and past their bedtime since the GOP is a bunch of old white farts anyway. Democrats brough a ton of bar and entertainment business to Charlotte and Denver the last 2 times...Tampa didnt' see nearly the same boost from the GOP.
Go host it, indeed, in Cleveland--truly a good and great city for the 2016 DNC. But, if the GOP ultimately chooses Ohio, that honor needs to go to Cincinnati.

The Queen City has proven it's got the chops to host large civic events and its beautiful, compact, refined fine-dining core will naturally appeal to the GOP--and, obviously, this includes nearby, easily accessible, and inviting NKY. Let's put it another way... Cleveland is a natural for the 2016 DNC convention, but for it to host the 2016 GOP convention would be akin to inviting the Steelers to play in the Dog Pound and expecting them to be pelted with roses... So, let's all be on the safe side and we all do what needs to be done... IE, the 2016 DNC to Cleveland; the 2016 RNC to Cincinnati--now, are there any other questions?

I was reading some articles on the 2016 DNC convention prospect cities and they have a quote that seemed kind of funny...
“I don’t know what the hell is in Columbus,” U.S. Rep. Bob Brady told the Daily News. “I hope they are the competition. We’ll blow them away.” (Source) - See more at: Democratic Convention Watch 2016 National Conventions and Elections News

One never knows what the committees are looking for,it is politics after all,but I wouldn't be surprised if columbus is the ohio city with a convention in 2016..but no one has a clue really.

Oh gawd....who cares! If it was anywhere but an Ohio city, the locals would take as much money as possible from these partisan robots and laugh all the way to the bank, but here we have rubes like you who feel being "chosen" for something as important as a political convention somehow defines your city and they will actually vote accordingly. And you all wonder why Ohio continues to be a metaphor for middle-American naiveté.

I'm well aware of why the GOP has chosen to look more closely at Cincinnati, so cut me some slack, okay?

Do you actually believe I don't know what a predatory bunch of political partisans these people really are? For various reasons, Cincinnati would be an ideal site for the GOP to mold its party's narrative, but one mustn't overlook that the city functions as a proverbial candy store for greedy little Republican hands--and, in several of my comments, I alluded to these things--but you weren't listening.

Obviously, any GOP contingent will be rolling into town not to give, but to take. In the end, Cincinnati may prove special to them while also adding to its own reputation, but none of this is of any consequence to Republican interests. For them, a RNC staged in the Queen City is simply another means to be handed the keys to the candy store. (and you think I don't understand... )

Hah, okay....seems to me you were willing to be fleeced with open arms as long as it said "Cincinnati" on the banner, but I will cut you some slack. I agree it will probably be Vegas in the end, for obvious reasons, and let's face it...they need the tourist dollars more than any Ohio city at this point anyway.

Yes, your words (which I emboldened above) aptly summarize what the game's all about, politically. And that is: we, "The GOP," don't come to your city to give it a name, prop it up, endear it to anyone's heart, blah, blah, blah. Instead (with your unabated understanding and cooperation) we come your way as opportunists, brigands, and royals to enrich ourselves and our fellows in every way possible. And thus with this, an unwritten agreement, we'll promise both your gullible public and insatiable news media the positive stories they wish to hear--so long as you...personally, privately, and w/o fanfare...supply the # of required 000's on those checks being bestowed upon us under that mahogany table. (BTW, there weren't any other questions...were there?)

Yep, Natural510, same as it ever was here in time-tested, Republican Cincinnati. Not all that long ago this city congratulated itself upon having the late Carl Lindner, Jr. as its beloved billionaire "bag man," but today the city relies upon a less beloved, but equally effective multi-millionaire John F. Barrett and his associates to do what needs to be done.

Let's face it--in these hard times, any of our cities need to do things to advance their games--and,even though they're exponentially apart, both Las Vegas and Cincinnati are no exceptions. For example--even though it doesn't really need him at all--Las Vegas entertains casino billionaire Sheldon Adelson as a strong advocate. Meanwhile, Cincinnati fields a bevy of its own powerful corporate chieftains, altogether probably rivaling that of LV.

As previously mentioned, the Queen City once fielded the one and only "Mr. Cincinnati" (Uncle Carl) as its very own personal "White House back door man," but in these times the city's power brokers have delegated that responsibility to one Western/Southern chairman, Republican-in-nature.

(Now...are there any other questions?)

^ Sorry 'bout our luck, Cincy & Cleve...but, on this one, both Sheldon Adelson and Las Vegas own the day. IE, what's there NOT to like about either this multi-billonaire's "$$$" appeal to the GOP or of his alluring LV playpen? (Huh, huh, HUH?)

I'm sure he hosts the best evangelical, family-values oriented Las Vegas party money can buy.
