It will eliminate the monopoly-ownership scheme, replacing it with “a plan for people to own and operate their own grow, manufacturing and retail facilities.”

Whenever they don't use plain wording, that means they're hiding something, which probably means they'll try to line the same people's pockets once again. I'm guessing they're probably going to play with the wording to get around the constitutional amendment on monopolies, maybe giving small timers the opportunity to grow their own while still reserving ten production farms for themselves.

I'm voting "no" until it's a clean bill without favors for anybody and so will the majority of Ohioans. We learned our lesson with the casinos.

Pot-legalization push in 2016 to drop monopolies, mascot Buddie | The Columbus Dispatch
Well, I liked this part:

Quote:
The plan would have a different approach for home-grown marijuana, allowing it without a permit.
Which makes me think I could grow as much for my own use as I pleased since there is no permit required.

And this:

Quote:
Asked by The Dispatch for details about the new plan, including the expanded retail and home-grow options, James said: “We are still in the consensus-building phase, so we are looking at the other legalized states on home grow as we discuss the options with Ohioans.”

Tells me we are aways away from final wordage and will have to wait to make an informed decision.

So, I stand by my statement, much better than the last offering.

Only time will tell if there are any gotchas.

Ohio lawmakers want medical marijuana legalized by summer | Local News - WLWT Home

The legislature is now in a hurry to pass a Medical Marijuana bill. I bet it's going to be tough to get a prescription.

Yup and no home growth. Columbus Republicans see the new ballot initiative will probably pass and they're trying to get ahead of it with a more conservative plan.

The "monopoly" amendment (which provided home grow, so therefore it wasn't a monopoly) would have provided a lot more freedom than the shady medical marijuana amendment the lawmakers passed.

This is a terrible bill. Leave it to the clowns in Columbus to screw up a good idea.

As predicted, it is so restrictive that few will be able to take advantage of it.
