Hello,

My husband and I are organic farmers looking for the right place to land. We are searching for an area with:

Good soil where we can buy 60 to 100 acres for under 300,000.
Zoning that would allow us to build 5 to 10 modest, green-built family homes on the one piece of land (we want to farm and live on the land with multiple families).
Strong markets for organic produce.
Close to a town of 7,000 or more people, with a library, a café.
Vibrant community with lots of opportunities for children (ie sports, music, dance, art, etc.).
Waldorf or other charter type schools or home-schooling groups.
We prefer to be among people who are politically liberal/ progressive as well as tolerant minded (not racist, sexist, etc.).

Thanks!

Look around Findlay or up somewhere in the northwest section of the state.

Great idea: How ‘green’ are the homes going to be?

I ask because I can visualize a ‘cap & trade’ situation where if a developer builds smart ‘totally green homes’ (geothermal, small homes, etc…) other poorly planned communities can be demolished. Both the builder & the demolisher can get incentives or subsidizes.

This could be a respectable way to rebuild the Real Estate industry since there is/will be a glut of oversized, inefficient life-style homes for a long time.

I’m new to the Midwest, but you picked the right State/area to do this—good luck with your idea!
