I will be moving from out of state to Norman, Ok to attend a graduate (PhD) program at OU.

I am in the process of locating a safe and quiet apartment community near the university. I have read some of the prior posts addressing this issue. I am seeking more timely information, as an apartments "atmosphere" can suddenly change with new ownership.

In short, I am looking for a quiet and safe apartment building. I understand it is a college town, but I am by no means into partying.

Hey there,

You might want to check out Rebecca Lane apt. It is close to the OU campus and has access to many restaurants and convenient stores. I am an incoming PhD student in this fall and I just settled down here a week ago. So far everything is fine and staff here are very friendly. The apt is kinda old but it's acceptable to me, and the rent for a single bedroom apt is relatively lower than most the other apts that I have looked for. Anyway, good luck on your apt hunting, my PhD fellow.

Consider keeping an eye on Craigslist. Sometimes the historic neighborhood west of campus has some small, one-bedroom houses or garage apartments that are pretty cheap and perfect if you want quiet. There are some small four-plex apartment buildings there as well. It is a really nice walk/bike to campus because of the tree-lined streets.
