I'm surprised you didn't realize that Taco Cabana is a glorified Taco Bell.
Pepe Delgado's in Norman has some really good non Tex Mex food. If you like California style mexican then you need to go there.

And I chuckled too about Taco Cabana. I don't know of anybody that considers that place any kind of "standard". It's sort of a Steak and Shake or Freddie's (burger) step up above McDonalds, or Burger King except it's Mexican food (above Taco Bell).

Yes, that Taco Cabana part was a real scream. Though I did try Tamahumara's. Its ostentatious sign looked like a downtown Vegas Aztec-themed casino, but the real treat was the food! It actually tasted like Mexican food... that somewhat ate and vomited onto a plate and then served to me.

Isn't Mexican food suppose to taste like Mexican food?

Yes, it should... but apparently you didn't finish reading that thought.

No actually I did.

It's just that I haven't ever had Mexican food taste like food that was "ate and vomited onto a plate." At that point I don't think it would be Mexican food....maybe reconstituted and digested "food" mixed with stomach juices. Puzzling, indeed.

I'll have to order that one next time I'm at Tamahumara's.

Shouldn't be too hard to find, just get anything on the menu. But as I've been saying all along, this has been my experience with Mexican food here, and my standards are different because of what I am used to eating. And as I was explaining to the OP, one can't always go by what people tell you when there is a standard in an area that may be much lower than that to which one is accustomed. In my case, it's the local "Mexican" food. It's good to you and many others around here, I'm sure... but it's far inferior to what I used to eat.

And I'm sorry if reading comprehension isn't your strong suit, but your attempt to be snide is more or less a fail if you go back and read what I wrote about that horrible Tamahumara's. I described only its taste, yet how (or why) you came up with the rest of that line is puzzling indeed

Attempts aside, I was (am, perpetual state) snide.

I hope life gets better for you DVXHD, I really do.

You know, in the grand scheme of things, life is not to too bad if one of the worst parts of your life is not finding Mexican food up to your "standards."

Hang in there, Buddy.

It isn't just Mexican food though, it's everything. If it were only Mexican food, I could adjust much better.

*violins playing in the background*

Would you like a little cheese with that whine?

Hmmmm?

Nah, in all seriousness, hope OK City gets better for you and yours.

As I've said before, once I have enough money saved I'll start looking for work out of state. By my calculations, that should be around February.
