Just wondering if it's considered expensive in other areas of the OKC area. We moved to here from Florida and find the utility "dinging" excessive.

We would love to try to reduce these costs.

I don't know about Edmond, but in Oklahoma, cities that have higher utility rates do that so they can have some more money to put into the general city fund. It's called a backdoor tax.

Is it that way in Stillwater? We get dinged for gas piped in, we get dinged for water in, and waste water out, etc.. There's no way to get the bill down because of the constants.

BTW, we took a ride out to Stillwater couple weeks ago.. other than the college, didn't see much going on.

What's to do out there? Good place to live or economically dead?

Yes.

Oil field work is booming around Stillwater. Roughnecks have the hotel rooms in short supply. An aerospace manufacturing firm, Ansco, is on its way to hiring possibly as many as 600 people. Strip malls and downtown are doing well. Economy has seldom been better.

The main stuff to do is watch OSU play sports, or eat out at one of the many restaurants. It's a good place to live in Oklahoma. To do better, one would have to live in Oklahoma City, Tulsa or one of the bigger metro suburbs, like Edmond.

Wow. Expensive? Really? Edmond utilities are cheaper than any place we've ever lived.

I agree. Edmond is really cheap compared to other places. The only place I have lived where it was cheaper is Columbus, MS.

That's really about all there is to do anywhere in Oklahoma. Too hot in the summer to do stuff outside and everything closes down in the winter cause it might snow.
