I believe at 9:07 this AM (Wednesday 10-13-10) I felt earth movement in the Tulsa area. I saw all the classic indicators, furniture rumbling, debris falling from the roof, and a slight shake of my feet. I don't recall anything in the past that was quite so obvious in the Tulsa area.

I'm in Moore and there was shaking and a loud rumbling, kind of like thunder under the ground I'd say, but no damage here. It was 9:06 AM - lasted a 2 or 3 seconds maybe.

I felt it too here in Tulsa although i didn't realize at first it was a quake. Some maintainence was being done on my apt building and I just thought it was the workers on the roof or something but the building kind of swayed a bit and I thought that was strange then I find out it was a small quake.

According to the USGS site, it was felt as far away as Wichita Falls, TX.

We felt it up here in Midtown Tulsa. Was watching the Chilean Mine rescue with a friend of mine and felt house shake or knock. Felt like a blast but with no sound. First time I have ever felt an earthquake.

Second one I've ever felt. First one here in OK. Definitely the strongest I've ever felt. It was really loud here. Sounded like a giant truck rumbling by. At first I thought it was an explosion, and I was actually walking around the house looking for damage, because it popped and cracked so loudly, but then DH called from downtown to check and make sure I was okay. That's when I realized what had just happened.

So what is going on with these earthquakes? I was born and raised in Oklahoma and have heard of a few earthquakes and knew about the big one in central OK back in the 50s. But over the last few years it seems like at least once a month there is a news story about an earthquake around the Jones Oklahoma area. This last one today was around lake Thunderbird in the Norman area, but still in central Oklahoma area. It seems they are getting stronger too, a couple of years ago when the ground started moving the quakes were very week. Most people in Jones barely noticed them, they were like 2.2s and 2.5 now they are getting up to 3.3 in the Jones area and now the 4.3 in Norman.

I hope we don't see any stronger than what we just had, most building in Oklahoma are not built with in earthquake code.

I couldn't find another recorded earthquake in Cleveland County but records only go back to 1882. Very interesting.

I just heard about this earthquake on the radio. They said someone was having a fire alarm test the same time the quake was felt.

You could think of it this way:

This is the "Bible Belt". In a few years OK will be a "holy state".

Or

Oh No!...."The China Syndrom".
