want to buy a turtle today. any body know? went by petco, but they have huge sliders. I'm looking for small ones. Petsmart in norman did not have any.

Anyone wishing to adopt any animal even a turtle should first research the specific turtle they are interested in to determine if it would fit into your life. Turtles have very long lifespans and require much more care than it would seem at first glance. Hopefully, you have already considered these things for your turtle. I've worked in petstores for about 5 years, and I can tell you that Amazonchix is absolutely right. Besides that point, Federal law states that no pet turtle can be sold whose shell is 4in or less in diameter, unless sold for research or education purposes. It is for public health reasons, mainly due to the fact that so many children were getting salmonella in the 70's and 80's by not washing their hands after handling them!
