And don't forget, here in the backwoods, a lot of homes have enough property to keep a horse. THis pic is a house on the edge of Holdenville.

Looks great, but how much does something like that cost? Price is a major consideration.

Homes in Hooterville are dirt cheap and there are a LOT of them. Remember people are DYING to sell here. And all houses are overpriced for those incoming out of staters.

I think you ought to consider Holdenville. It fits the bill. Small town, with our world's smallest wal mart.

Check out Peg's walk thru holdenville pic thread.

I looked at Peggy's pictures, and it does look like a very nice place. However, the only RE agency I've found [other than the one you posted] is the one listing the place in Atwood. He also has some places in Holdenville, but they have yards, and not very big ones - at least, they're listed as big yards, but just because there's room to plop a mobile for rental income doesn't mean it's big enough for a horse and some chickens. And yes, there are some places I'd consider dirt cheap, and I'd love to be able to walk to the store, but the ones I've seen just don't have big enough yards, to say nothing of having neighbors close enough to have fits when my cockatoo starts screaming. He can be LOUD. But if you can find anything like what I'm looking for on the edge of town, by all means, take a few pix and give me the name of whoever is selling it!

Our friend from Atwood said that house you are looking at has only been empty since christmas. A young couple with a little boy lived there. I haven't seen it yet, and won't go today with the cold front coming thru. We are such wimpy poos here in OK when it comes to snow.

I wasn't a wimp about driving myself in snow and ice, but about other clueless numbwits on the road. The USCG used to bring in families fresh each fall from places in the deep south, who had never before been out of Georgia, for instance. Made life dangerous for anyone else on the road! It's not at all wimpy to understand what you know and don't know, and I doubt if OK has enough snow and ice to encourage people to learn how to drive in it well. One of the small coastal towns in AK is notorious for never having snow days for their school, and they get an average of 5'/year. Or more.

Peggy also took some pix of the place, looking at some of them I can't imagine what kind of people would have lived like that! You'll see when you see it for yourself. Still has possibilities, though.

Default For Karibear

Kari, finally got around to checking out the Holdenville place. That house is really coo! I liked the house.

Here are a few pics. Nice shade tree at the right spot to shade the house during summer. The RR tracks are a mere 100 feet away.

This little burger trailer is right catecorner to your place. And it is approximately 4 blocks from a nice grocery store.

This place is for sale right down the street from yours. I originally thought this was the one you were looking at.

This is a place for rent closer to the grocery store. I asked about it, like how much and what was included, but some meth girl said "dunno, sorry dude, my bf will be right back.

That looks like a nice place with a good fence. You sure could "hear the train-a-coming" from there, though.

I've been down with a virus, so I haven't been to town.

That burger trailer makes the best curly fries.

I like the place a lot, mostly because of the fence and the shop, which is heated, wired, and plumbed. I can deal with trains, as long as they don't whistle 100' away. I grew up next to a major airport, and noise is a lot easier to get used to and tune out than getting used to it being gone suddenly.

That other house looks more like a prison, with that iron fence - and the yard is too small. I really don't care for that rental, unless it's extremely cheap! It looks like it started out being a singlewide trailer that changed it's mind.

And it's definitely good to know there's a grocery store within walking distance, on the map it looks like Walmart is on the other side of town - longways.

Thanks for the pictures.

I thought those of you in Southern OK didn't even know what snow was, heck...we barely get any so you guys get like none.

It is nice. You should see the pix of the inside, if you haven't looked at it yet. It was originally priced higher to include all the furnishings, but they weren't my style at all. Too frou-frou.

A train runs through the area where I live, though not so close right here. It was a lot closer at our previous place. The trains aren't that bad, what was really annoying was when the burg just north of us decided to improve their harbor. They had a pile driver going around the clock. Thumpathumpathumpa....

And good curly fries cover a multitude of sins, expecially when they are across the street.
