Well, I wrote a while ago requesting information on Edmond, but now I need information on Stillwater. I do realize it is considered a "college" type town, but what kind of stores, restaurants does it offer? I plan on visiting early next month, but any insight would be appreciated. Also, can anyone recommend a realtor? We are looking for a rent house for 6-8 months...

Also, what part of town is the more safe/desired area? Or is there one?

Thank you!

Default Stilli!

I have lived in Stillwater for 5 years now. As far as what areas are safe, most neighborhoods are fine. You should definitely avoid Forty North apartments though. If you don't mind living next to college students you should be able to find a pretty reasonably priced house to rent. If you do mind college students, you might have to pay more for a nicer area. I would avoid renting from C-Star. I have only heard negative comments about that particular property management company. As far as eateries and shopping, there are the typical chains, for example, applebee's, chili's, belk, lowe's and that sort. We also have the Eskimo Joe's trio. There are also a few boutique type stores downtown. If you like going out, there's the strip. It's pretty packed with college folk though.

I'm in the process of relocating to Stillwater, it seems like a nice town and reasonably safe. (I'm coming from a large metro area). Town has grown about 15% in the last decade (non students). There are many realtors that have websites to check. New homes are running about $100/sqft.

Seems like many chain restaurants to eat at as well as several independents. With students there will be adequate waitstaff. Several towns nearby have problems with staffing as many 18-24 folks leave for school.

I'd highly recommend Fisher Provence - ask for Beth Wooldridge:

Oklahoma Real Estate, Stillwater Real Estate, Oklahoma State University
