The panhandle's history has fascinated me since I read Timothy Egan's "The Worst Hard Time." I've also always loved the west since my first visit to Colorado and the western edge of the panhandle seems to be similar.
I haven't been able to find any listings so I figured I'd ask here. Is the land out there all privately owned or is some of it BLM? I'm curious about buying a little land and wanted an idea of what the market and properties out there were like. On Zillow, for example, about all I get for search results are cheap houses in Boise City or huge tracts of land of hundreds of acres. I'd like some land but not that much. I don't think farming/ranching would be for me but I would consider leasing land to others for those purposes. I'd want some in the mountains near the western edge for basic exploring, checking things out and hiking/camping/Jeeping. TIA!
