We were travelling through OK. We paid at a booth on the Will Rodgers and Turner. There was construction and confusion going west on I-40, and we got routed on to the Kilpatrick. We exited at the next exit. The toll would have been 50 cents, but we thought that there would be a manned station as we made the turn like we saw on the other exits after we paid on the longer routes.

Surprise, as we drove through the nonpass lane an alarm sounded, and we realized that it was an unmanned automated system.

Do they really bother with collecting a 50 cent toll from an out-of-state driver? Is there a way to fix it? We had the money, but because it was different than the other booths we encountered. We made a mistake. I don't want to pay some ridiculous fine over 50 cents that wasn't obvious.

This same thing happened to us a few years back. We mistakenly rolled through the same type of booth on the Kilpatrick. If an alarm sounded, we didn't hear it.

We did get a written notice about the incident. However, that's all we got. We weren't ticketed or anything--just warned to be more observant.

I don't think they go after you unless you are a multi repeat offender.

This is what I'm hoping. They got the $10 for actually using the roads we wanted to use, and they're only out the 50 cents for the road that was a confusing mess in rush hour traffic that I never wanted to be on in the first place.

I will say, that because you admit to driving a Chevy, it's highly possible you get fined for not driving a Ford.

Oklahoma is Ford country!
